By choosing to use a pinhole camera and long exposure times in the project A Sense of Place I’m recording, not an instant, but instead the passage of time; time spent in the space. I think this reflects the influence ideas about time and memory has within my work.
My pinhole images attempt to capture the essence of a particular location. Recent work centres around spaces and offers a reflection on time’s movement within a still image.
Pinhole evokes memories, thoughts and emotions a normal camera tends to omit. It has the ability to convey life while revealing new meanings in it. Pinhole manipulates 'reality' rather than records it. Capturing the world "as it is" becomes less important.
